Flannelly first Wexfordman home in Dungarvan
Wednesday February 03 2010
THE ANNUAL ten miles road race took place in Dungarvan on Sunday last, and there was a large Wexford representation at the popular event.
Ted Flannelly (Slaney Olympic - fresh from his two excellent performances on the previous two Sundays, in Kilmore and Clonmel) was first Wexford man home in a very good 56.03, which saw him place 17th overall. Next home was Myles Gibbons (S.B.R.) who smashed his PB for the distance by running 58.39.
Pádraig Moriarty (S.O.) clocked 59.47, Ger Doyle (S.O.) 61.22, Seán Murphy (United Striders) 61.27, Jason O'Connor (S.O.) 63.36, John Roban (S.O.) 64.51, Billy Reck and Mick Morrissey (both S.O. and both clocked 65.00), Patrick Kennedy (S.O.) 66.39, Bobby Redmond (S.O.) 67.13, Alan McGrath (Gorey A.C.) 71.58, Jason Kenny (S.B.R.) 71.59, Fergus Murphy (S.O.) 72.44, Brendan Dillon (S.O.) 73.04, Dermot Foley (Menapians) 73.30.
Well done to all and to all the other Wexford runners who made up the near 1,000 record entry field.

Paul Gibbons (S.B.R.) had a very eventful race, eventually clocking 29.31, while Eugene Doherty (S.B.R.) stopped the clock at 30.25 (a new PB over the distance and a performance which saw him place second M50). Billy Harpur (S.B.R.) ran 41.42 (which saw him place third in the M65 category).
Ferns running club staged a test run on Wednesday evening last in anticipation of its series of fun runs each Wednesday evening. On a cold and slightly damp night, twelve runners completed three laps of the 'V' in Ferns.
