Decky is the star man

Tuesday February 07 2012

DECKY MURPHY pulled out all the stops quite literally on Sunday to help his side to secure a spot in the second round of the Neil O'sullivan Cup.

With Curracloe United and St. Leonards proving inseparable at the end of normal and extra-time in their first round clash, penalties were required. And they didn't appear to be having much success in deciding a winner either until each side had dispatched nine spot kicks apiece.

At that stage the United goalkeeper came of age. He kept out the Saints' next penalty before dusting himself down and taking matters into his own hand by converting the winning penalty. The scoreline was 3-3 at the end of extratime. Darragh Connor, Eoin Kinsella and Liam Donnelly had landed United's efforts. Elsewhere in the Neil O'sullivan Cup, New Ross Celtic 'B' enjoyed a resounding 4-0 win over Fethard Rangers and Tombrack picked up a 2-0 victory over Cushintown.
