New committee chosen
Wednesday February 24 2010
THE A.G.M. of the H.P.I.A. (Horseshoe Pitchers of Ireland Assocation) was held in Carlow on Saturday week last, where the officers for the coming year were elected.
Outgoing Chairman, Denis Ryan from Kildare, was re-elected by one vote. His only opponent had been John Joe Byrne from the Woodsmen club who unfortunately did not get support from all of the Wexford players in attendance. The Vice-Chairman is Liam Bond (Wexford).
The outgoing Secretary, Micheál Redmond, resigned from his position which has been taken up by Jimmy Raymond (Donegal), and the Assistant Secretary will be Seán Owens (Wexford). The outgoing Treasurer, Jimmy Kelly, was re-elected unopposed.
Commitee: Paddy Laffan and Willie Wright (Laois), Andy Dorothy (Donegal), Paddy Byrne, Johnny Pierce (Kildare), Denis Larkin Snr. and Liam Kenny (Wexford), Tadhg Kennelly and Martin Malone (Galway).
P.R.O's: John Joe Byrne (Wexford), Denis Ryan (Kildare), Michael McLoughlin (Donegal), Paddy Laffan (Laois).
The next H.P.I.A. meeting will take place in Carlow on Tuesday, March 2, at 8 p.m. There was a large turn-out at this meeting, which was appreciated.
