James takes autograss title

■ James Kent from Aclare winner of the Wales Junior Special Championship held in Demby in Wales last weekend with buggy fabricator Johnny Keating.
A YOUNG racing enthusiast has scooped a top prize for autograss racing in a keenly contested competition in Wales. James Kent won the Junior Special category outright in Tenby, Wales, last weekend, beating off strong competition from twenty other competitors during the two day event. This win shows promising signs for the Aclare chap, who only started to race competitively in autograss since May. Since then he has taken home many racing titles from competitions in Lismore, Co. Waterford and in West Cork.
The 15-year-old Good Counsel College student, who is the only Junior Special in Wexford, has now qualified for the All -Ireland final, which will be taking place in Lismore on September 11 and 12, in second place on the grid.
James, who is the son of Elaine and James 'Stretch' Kent, was introduced to the thrills and spills of autograss racing by Johnny Keating from Nash, who together with his father Jim fabricated the specialised buggy for the racing events.
