Cross-country spots vacant

THERE ARE still a number of vacancies in the county cross-country events for the national Community Games finals. The county finals were held on Saturday last and there was a disappointing response.
All the Under-12 positions (boys and girls) were filled. There are two places available in the 1,200m for girls, two places left on the Under14 boys' panel, and four places available on the Under-14 girls' panel.
Names to be forwarded to the county Secretary, Eilish Kehoe, by Monday next, March 8. No names will be accepted after this date.
The national A.G.M. took place at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone last weekend. A few motions were passed but these will not come in force for another two years. Full report and details in next week's issue.
DIARY DATES
Friday, March 5: closing date for entries for outdoor team events. Draws made on Monday, March 8, and no entries accepted after that date.
Saturday, March 6: culture corner, sketch, recitation, drama, group singing/music and solo competitions in Clonroche Hall.
The projects are being judged at 10.30 a.m. Registration for sketch, culture corner and recitation is at 12.30 p.m., with the competition beginning at 1 p.m.
Registration for singing and music competitions is at 2.30 p.m., with the competition starting at 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 7: group dancing, solo dancing and set dancing in Raheen Hall. Registration at 11 a.m.
Saturday, March 13: county art finals in Castlebridge Community Centre.
