A NUMBER of Wexford players were members of the Napier University (Edinburgh) squad which won the Fergal Maher Cup last weekend.

In the semi-final, Napier University forge an 8-13 to 0-11 win over Marino (Dublin) in a game played in Athenry.

In the final in Dangan on Saturday, the Edinburgh side came out on top by 4-14 to 1-12 against Dundalk I.T., only managing to pull away in the closing ten minutes after an excellent game.

Ballyfad's Maurice Stanley was corner-back on the winning side, and other Wexford members were Eddie Roche (Buffers Alley), Darragh O'Grady (Enniscorthy), Peter Breen (Ballygarrett), Pádraig Culleton (St. James'), Liam Murphy (St. James'), Tony Grannell (Crossabeg-Ballymurn) and Mick Mulligan (Liam Mellows).
