Mary's Leinster queens

The Leinster-winning St. Mary's (New Ross) camogie squad.
IN 2008 St. Mary's (New Ross) won the All-ireland Junior camogie championship which meant they then competed in the ' B' championship.
This was a big step up and though they reached semi-finals and even finals it was not until recently that they finally reached their goal.
The Leinster final was played in Thomastown against rivals Borris Vocational School. St. Mary's made a very good start with a point in the second minute. For the next 15 minutes St. Mary's were the dominant team, but only scored three more points.
Borris attacked and against the run of play scored a goal in the 19th minute.
St. Mary's, now only a point ahead, stepped up their game and by half-time were 1-6 to 1-0 ahead.
At half-time the girls were encouraged to keep up the work and not to let Borris back into the game. With two more goals and four points in the second-half, St. Mary's won by 3-10 to 2-0.
This was an excellent performance by St. Mary's. The team was excellently balanced.
From the goalie to the full-forward line, everybody played their part by working hard for the full 60 minutes.
Sarah Banville accepted the cup on behalf of the team and thanked Leann Murphy (coach) and Mr. Mcdonald (manager) for their hard work which paid off.
St. Mary's are now through to the All-ireland quarter-final which will take place after Christmas.
