Horse Racing

Your chance to win a horse racing DVD

Wednesday February 03 2010

A NEW DVD on the market should prove the ideal warm-up for the Cheltenham Festival, and we have five copies to give away.

'Horse Racing Syndicates - It Could Be You' looks at racehorse ownership by means of a syndicate, covering the highs and lows and the social aspect of the sport. It's informative, giving practical advice on how to set up a syndicate and find a racehorse. The story is entertaining, and it's true (caught in real time). It is suitable viewing for all (not only for the serious punter).

The syndicates featured are the Goat Racing Syndicate who own the famous 'Forpadydeplasterer' and the River Syndicate who own/lease 'Presenting Lucy' (apt in today's climate).

The DVD contains footage from their major races and includes interviews with HRI; racehorse trainers Tom Cooper (who trains the 2009 'Irish Independent' Arkle Trophy winner 'Forpadydeplasterer'), and the up and coming trainer Philip Rothwell; the bloodstock agent Seán Tiernan (who purchased 'Solwhit', favourite for the Champion Hurdle in Cheltenham); syndicate members including the colourful Charlie Chawke; a syndicate agent and the former Minister for Sport, John O'Donoghue.

To be in with a chance of winning a DVD, simply answer the following question and send your entry to Sportsdesk, People Newspapers, Channing House, Upper Rowe Street, Wexford, beforeWednesday, February 10: What is the name of the syndicate which owns good Cheltenham prospect 'Solwhit'?

If you are not lucky in the competition, the DVD is on special offer in the shops for ¤9.99.
