DERMOT DAY adds another feather to his cap this season as he embarks on a new venture as he will stand 'Watar' as a stallion for the racing industry at his own Moortown Stud. Based near Ballycogley, south of Wexford town, Day has been immersed in horses all his life but is probably better known as a horse trainer, both on the track and in the point-to-point sector.
Double wins for Doyle and Walsh
A LARGE crowd made their way to Fairwood Park for the Shillelagh and District point-to-point. Surprisingly the going was yielding, which obviously indicated the level of moisture that was in the soil in spite of the dry spell that has been encountered in the past few weeks.

Horseshoes weekly news
THE WEXFORD Horseshoes Association are holding a meeting in Ferns on Wednesday, January 18, at 8 p.m. Among the items on the agenda will be the start of the transfer window - to clarify, this window will be open until the end of March, when the next meeting will take place. Anyone wishing to be transferred has to be present at the meeting.

The sales market is still sluggish, and many owners of broodmares will be looking for options and value as they try to justify keeping their mares for another year.
Wexford base for many top trainers
Tipperary a successful one when winning with 'Moscow Broge' in the first division of the older geldings' maiden. Ridden by their son, Jimmy, the seven-year-old 'Moscow Society' gelding was sent to the front some way from home and stayed on well to win. O'rourke trains in Silver Spring, Bridgetown, and indicated afterwards that he will try the horse in a winners' race prior to giving him a go on the track.
