Despite bitterly cold weather, a very good turnout competed in the free sub competition held over the weekend to get the golfing season off to a great start.
Jan Jenkins continued his good form with a victory thanks to a par on the 18th where the pin was in a very precarious position, and this proved the difference. David O'Connor managed to birdie the last but still came up short by a point to finish second, with Larry Merrigan finishing a further point adrift having failed to score on the last.
It was nice to see some old faces back again and some new members as well.
The golfer of the year competition has been brought back for this year, with points being allocated to the top ten finishers in each singles competition, and the winner to receive a perpetual trophy at the end of the season.
The next competition takes place on Saturday and Sunday, March 20/21, with a timesheet available in the clubhouse.
