Three teams to make drop
Tuesday August 31 2010
FOUR SENIOR football clubs will be battling for their lives in Wexford Park on Saturday next when the WFC championship relegation semi-finals take place.
With three teams making the drop to Intermediate as part of the overall re-structuring, it means that the stakes are higher than ever before for Ballyhogue, GlynnBarntown, Sarsfields and Bannow-Ballymitty.
Saturday's losers will both relinquish their Senior status, while the winners won't be out of the woods yet either - they will have to play each other, with the loser there becoming the third team to be relegated. In short, only one of the four teams will stay up, and they will have to win two games in order to do so.
Sarsfields have the most to lose in terms of longevity, having been a Senior club since 1980. They meet Bannow-Ballymitty at 6 p.m., with the first tie at 4.30 p.m.
