Strong start sufficient for Glynn-Barntown
GLYNN-BARNTOWN VOLUNTEERS 2-12 1-6
THIS O'LOUGHLIN Cup quarter-final at Páirc Charman was as good as over by half-time as Volunteers failed to score in the opening half while their Wexford District rivals had 1-12 on the scoresheet by that stage.
The nearest the Vols came to registering a score in that opening half was when they were awarded a penalty, but Glynn-barntown goalie Luke Rafter was equal to the task of stopping Kyle Mann's attempt at finding the net when he brought off one of his many fine saves over the hour.
Corner-forward Aaron Kehoe was top scorer for the winners with 1-5 to his credit, while John Crean scored their other goal and his namesake, Jamie, accounted for some excellent points.
Volunteers improved considerably when wind assisted in the second-half as they held their opponents to one goal while scoring 1-6 themselves. The Volunteers goal came from George Cullen while Joe Mcbride and Kyle Mann accounted for the majority of their points.
