THE St. Fintan's/Our Lady's Island combination led by four points (2-4 to 2-0) at the interval in this O'Loughlin Cup game at Ballymore and, with a similar margin separating the teams midway through the second-half, this was a much closer contest than the final score might suggest.

However, the winners dominated the latter stages and deserved to go through to the semi-final on Sunday next away to Fethard.

Eoin and Billy Wright, Colm Kinsella, Richard Kelly and Shane Sinnott all scored goals for the winners, with the majority of their points coming from Jason Pettit and Niall Moore.

Defenders Conor Wright, Brendan Hughes and Cathal O'Brien along with midfielder Tomás Power were also prominent for St. Fintan's/Our Lady's Island.

Chief scorers Colm Ó Corcora and Ryan Nolan did well for Sarsfields along with Jason O'Dowd, Danny Barnes, Dean Murphy and Seán Pailing, but the loss of Tomás Campbell through injury was sorely felt.

On current form, it will take a good team to stop St. Fintan's/Our Lady's Island who have some fine players.
