GAA club crisis

THE G.A.A. has just ushered out its 125th anniversary, but major problems lie ahead for the Association in Wexford, particularly at under-age level. With the 2010 club season just under way, the difficulties facing clubs have been highlighted by Coiste na nÓg Chairman, Diarmuid Devereux.

Unlucky Minors pipped by Louth

THE WEXFORD Minor footballers travelled to Dundalk on Saturday last where they played the first round of the Leinster League. It was a tight, end-to-end game which eventually went the way of the hosts following a strong second-half display. Wexford opened the game well with the midfield pairing, Dean Wright and Colm Kehoe, ensuring a good supply of ball for the forwards.

Holders eye final spot

THE WEXFORD Intermediate camogie team are within one victory of a place in the National League Division 2 final following a comprehensive win over Galway in St. Patrick's Park, Enniscorthy, on Saturday afternoon last. The victory was as straightforward as the scoreline suggests as the visitors failed to register a second-half score with Wexford in completely dominant form.

Murphy's magical strike seals victory

PAUL MURPHY grabbed a wonderful 60th-minute goal to hand his side a sensational victory over warm favourites A.U.L. in this excellent Oscar Traynor Trophy quarter-final clash at the New Ross club grounds on Saturday afternoon last. Although the football was free-flowing with both sides enjoying some excellent passages of play, it was always going to be a single strike that would decide which side would go through to a semi-final with the Defence Forces.
