Spate of robberies in New Ross area

GARDAI ARE currently investigating a spate of burglaries throughout the New Ross District, where thieves made off with large quantities of household and electrical items.

The first of the burglaries took place in St. Aidan's Green in Clongeen between 4 p.m. last Saturday, January 23 and 2 p.m. last Tuesday. Burglars entered the house through the front door and a large amount of household appliances and furniture was taken.

A house in Knockmullen was next to be targeted last Wednesday between 4.30 p.m. and 6.15 p.m. A laptop, electronic goods and a quantity of jewellery were all taken.

Thieves next targeted a Foulksmills house last Tuesday, where a television, household appliances and furniture were taken.

Velux windows and cement mixer was stolen from a house under construction in Castlemoyle and an oil burner was taken from a house in Pleasant Meadow in Clongeen sometime between last Wednesday and Thursday.

A laptop, which was left under a seat, was stolen from a parked car outside of the church in Ballymitty last Friday, while the owner was attending mass.

In a separate incident Gardaí are appealing for any information in relation to the theft of a green Renault Clio from the Woodview Drive estate in Adamstown. The 1997 registered vehicle was stolen sometime between last Thursday and Friday.

Jewellery and electronic equipment were stolen from a house in Ballindoney last Friday.

Gardaí are appealing to business owners, who receive calls from people pertaining to be Gardaí asking to go to their premises at night time, to ring the Garda Station.

'If they have any doubt ring back the Garda Station to confirm the call,' said a Garda spokesperson.
