Proud grandparents go back to national school
A GREAT turnout of proud and loving grandparents attended Clongeen National School last Friday morning to celebrate Grandparents' Day.
Grandparents travelled from near and far to take part in the celebrations and enjoyed poems and prayers which had been prepared by the children in anticipation of their visit. Beautiful artwork on the theme of grandparents was also on display around the school.
Principal Geraldine O'sullivan welcomed all present and spoke of the important and enriching role which grandparents can play in the lives of children.
Teacher Emily Stafford co-ordinated a beautiful prayer service and Fr Colm Murphy, parish priest of Clongeen, was on hand to bless throats for the Feast of St Blaise.
Grandparents chatted over refreshments following the assembly and many made a tour around the classrooms to see the work of their grandchildren afterwards.
It was a most successful and enjoyable day for all present and it is hoped to become an annual event in Clongeen NS.
