Nicky loved horse ploughing competitions
THE PASSING of the late Nicholas (Nicky) Egan was met with much sadness throughout the Ballycullane community, where he was very well-known.
Nicky sadly passed away on Friday, December 30 at the age of 87 years following a brief illness, which he received treatment for in both Wexford General and Waterford Regional Hospitals.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Agnes, who passed away in 1997, after almost 52 years of marriage.
Born and reared on a farm, one of Nicky's greatest interests was horse ploughing and he took part in many competitions at county and national level.
He was also involved in politics and was a member of the Fianna Fail Cumann in Ballycullane for many years.
His greatest passion was for the GAA. In his youth Nicky hurled with his local club, Gusserane, and cycled throughout the country, near and far, to attend matches.
The Wexford hurlers were closest to his heart and he could name every player that ever lined out for the county and the club they came from.
Nicky will be most remembered for his outgoing personality and his love of traditional Irish music. Many people enjoyed his renditions of Boolavogue, both in English and Irish.
He will be sadly missed by his children Alice, John, Ann, Michael, Bridget, Patrick, Philip, Nicholas, Teresa, Martin, James and Sheila.
