New Ross variety concert to help school in Zambia

Wednesday March 10 2010

A VARIETY concert, in aid of the Changa Changa School in Zambia is planned for the Brandon House Hotel on Saturday, March 20.

New Ross Parish Priest Fr. Joe Mc Grath worked in this Irish Christian Brothers-run school catering for 300 children some years ago.

Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann has been running this concert for the past seven years in conjunction with the parish to raise funds to feed and educate the children. All monies collected go straight to the school, where most of the children are orphans as their parents have died from Aids

The concert, taking place from 8.15 p.m., features The Ballycullane Mummers; Eddie Keher and group from Inistioge; John and Mick Forristal; Craobh Nua, a traditional Irish music group from the South Kilkenny and Waterford areas; the Waterford Ceili Band; Glór Ballad Group; John Aspel; Michael Dee; Nick Dempsey; Rosemary Kinsella; and other local artists. There will also be old time dancing.

Tickets, costing ¤10, are available from Parish Office on 051 421214, Martin Forristal on 086 0874409, Eddie Rowe 051 421633 or Peter Goggin 051421912.
