A BUNCH of roses with one or two thorns thrown into the mix were to be found in the Atlantic Bar, Cullenstown, on Sunday night for the comical 'Rose of Cullenstown' fundraisers.

The bar was packed for the novel fundraising event organised by the committee of the Cullenstown Development Association.

Brian Farragher, Eleanor Browne, Regina O'Grady, Ger Woolley, Derek Behan, Tomas French, Eleanor Cunningham, Peter Colfer and Sean Wright together with escort Eileen Dake were the focus of all attention and many laughs on the night as they were interviewed by the area's answer to Gay Byrne, Paddy Hannon.

Miss Hollow Rose, Ger Woolley, was crowned as the overall Rose of Cullenstown.

'It was a great night. There was a huge crowd there and we would like to thank all our supporters and those who sponsored prizes,' said Eileen Dake.
