A WELL-KNOWN local businessman has been chosen as this year's Grand Marshall for the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Paddy Quinn, the proprietor of the Brandon House Hotel, was presented with the Grand Marshall sash on Friday afternoon by Parade Chairperson, Cathaoirleach Victor Furness.
The Director of the JFK Trust, Paddy has been involved in the project since 1988 and given over 20 years of service to the Trust.
'The reason why we chose Paddy Quinn was because our theme is 'Working for New Ross' and there is no better man to led the parade than Paddy who works his heart out for New Ross,' explained Cllr. Furness.
This year's parade is on Wednesday, March 17, at 2 p.m. and will follow the same route as previous years. All floats, vintage vehicles and mechanically propelled participants are to form up in the Irishtown at the traffic lights, while all walking groups, clubs and marching bands are to form in the drive way of the Good Counsel College.

At the bottom of Cross Street the parade will turn onto South Street, then Charles Street and finally onto the Quay.
The colour party of the RDF pipe band will lead the parade, followed by the town's Councillors and the Grand Marshall.
