Harbouring premiere performance
THE premiere performances of Harbouring' will take place in Wexford this Thursday and Friday.
The newly commissioned nine movement 50 minute choral and orchestral work is by one of Ireland's foremost composers, Ian Wilson.
Following months of rehearsals, Gorey Choral Group, Wexford Festival Singers, Enniscorthy Choral Society and Whisht! Traditional Irish singing group are primed and ready for their collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and renowned accordion player Dermot Dunne for a truly unique musical production.
Conducted by one of Ireland's most distinguished conductors Fergus Sheil, Harbouring', will take place over the next two nights, June 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. in Whites Hotel.
Harbouring' was specially commissioned by the Arts Department of Wexford County Council through the Per Cent for Art Scheme. The idea for this commission is linked to Wexford County Council marking 10 years of investment in choral music within the county, particularly through the work of the County Wexford Children's Choir since 1997.
