Duo unveil their works of art in St. Michael's
TWO EXHIBITIONS TEACHER AND STUDENT LAUNCH SHOWS
Wednesday February 03 2010
ST. MICHAEL'S Theatre unveiled their latest exhibitions on Sunday evening.
Upstairs in the Gallery, Angelika Kiely from The Rower launched her first exhibition 'Expressions'.
Angelika, a native Germany, studied Art and Design in her home city of Munich, followed by an apprenticeship to gain qualification as a Display Artist.
After moving to Ireland in 1990 she became involved in teaching German and Art and Craft to mature students.
Having assisted her adult students to exhibit their works in the Gallery at St. Michael's Theatre over the past number of years, this is her first exhibition in her own right. The current exhibition displays a number of influences from the great masters, and reflects her love of bold colours and texture.
Meanwhile, an exhibition of works by Angela Reddy from Mary Street was launched downstairs in the Foyer.
Drawing heavily on her work in theatre Angela says she has attempted to turn paint into performance.
Angela, who studied drama and worked in theatre while in London, also writes poetry and has published a number of poems.
A number of years ago Angela completed a one year course in art and design in WIT and since her return from London she has begun painting again and has attended a number of art workshops in New Ross, with Angelika Kiely and Kathleen Allen. Angela's work is displayed at the annual JFK Dunbrody festival.
