Developers brought to court by council
NEW ROSS Town Council are currently pursuing a number of developers through the courts for payment of planning levies.
The monthly meeting heard on Tuesday night that this is a 'last resort' for the Council.
'In general the Council will accommodate all reasonable efforts by a planning applicant to pay any levies due and only resorts to court proceedings where the planning applicant fails to make a reasonable effort to deal with his financial commitments to the planning authority,' said Town Clerk, David Minogue. Meanwhile, the meeting heard that 23 planning applications were received in 2009, compared with 63 in 2008.
