Sixty set high standard

GREAT NUMBERS descended on Hoodsgrove, Rosbercon on Sunday for the Tullogher Glenmore Ploughing Association's annual fixture.

Sixty competitors took part in the seventh annual ploughing match, with 23 competitors entering the vintage competition.

Willie John Kehoe won the Senior Two Furrow, followed by Willie Ryan in second place and Tom Kirwan in third place.

In the Kilkenny confined competition, first place was awarded to Willie Ryan and second place went to Tom Cuddihy, while in the Under-28 Two Furrow John Doody was in first place and Thomas Hartley was in second place.

Sean Tracey emerged as the winner in the Under-21 category, with John Forristal in second place and Donnchadh Hassett taking home third. In the Farmerette competition, Alison Ryan and Veronica Brennan were awarded first and second place respectively.

In the TVO Vintage Class, Nick Cullen was awarded first place, followed by Ciaran Egan in second place and John Kehoe in third place and in the Vintage Diesel, David Livingstone was awarded first place, Tommy Colfer was second and Nick Wickham came in third.

Philip Jackman, Oliver Power and Nick Walsh were in first, second and third place respectively in the Vintage Single Furrow, Pat Furlong won the Three Furrow followed by James Pendergast in second place and in the Three Furrow Standard, Edward Forristal came in first place, with James Murphy in second place and Pat Cooley in third spot.

Paddy Nolan was the winner of the Under-28 Reversible, while Noel Gaffney won the Horse Competition.

In the Senior Reversible first place was presented to Dan Donnelly, with Brian Ireland and his brother Gary in second and third place respectively and in the Three Furrow Reversible, Ray Carroll came in first place, followed by Paul Doran in second place.
