THE VIKING Bridge Club has recorded the following results for the month of January. On January 14 Nora Murphy and Breda Farrell were in first place, followed by Martin Forristal and Patricia Rowe in second place, on January 21 Nora Murphy and Bernie Sweeney were in first place, followed by Kitty Lawlor and Bernie Sweeney in second place and on January 28 first place was awarded to Marie Kissane and Breda Farrell and second place went to Breda O'Connor and Kathleen Bolger.

THE NIGHT was lit up by fireworks and the streets of Enniscorthy came alive with noise as the Enniscorthy 1500 programme was launched with an open air spectacle on Saturday night. The recession defying parade of enlightenment captivated the children and earned the admiration of the adults as it passed along the way from the Fair Green to the Quays with fire, music, drama and extravagant costumes.

The rowing club were in Carlow recently for the Carlow Rowing Club Head of River. The club did extremely well with Jim Ryan winning the men's single scull in great style, while the women's Junior 16 of Nora Murphy, Jessica Coady, Carrie Nolan and Danielle Ryan, coxed by Jenna Joyce, also won their category leaving a couple of handy Carlow crews in their wake. These were very good results for the club and bode well for the season ahead.

Following the recent success of the Senior Citizens protest march across Dublin in 2009, every Monday from now until April 26 will be Senior Citizens Day. This means that every Monday Senior Citizens can spend the day at the GAA Museum and take a guided tour of Croke Park Stadium for only E5 (half price). There will also be a discount of 10% in the museum cafe.

The Junior Footballers got off to a winning start on Saturday when they overcame Davidstown/Courtnacuddy by 2 -8 to 1-6. Scorers were N Sinnott 1-2 D.M.Carroll1-0, A. Rossiter 0-2, J Bolger, B Fitzpatrick, S McGrath, and J Whelan 1 point each. The next game is against Kilrush at home under lights next Friday night at 8pm.

CAMOGIE/LADIES FOOTBALL

A final registration evening will take place in the clubhouse on this Wednesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. for all girls who still need to register for camogie and football . They need to be registered in order to start training. Training for all B football ladies will begin at 7.30pm the same evening. Congrats to Sarah O'Neill and Denise McGrath who are members of the County U16 camogie panel, Niamh Leacy who is a member of the County Senior football panel and Joann Dillon and Shannon Scales who are doing trials with the county U14 squad at the moment. Tintern won four medals in the County Cross Country Event on February 27. Sinead Egan came first in the girl's U12 500m. Ciara Ryan came 1st in the U13 1200m and Ellie Sheehan came 2nd in U14 500m. Gavin Sheehan came 2nd in the boys U12 500m. They all qualify for the National Finals in Athlone on May 21 to 23. Well done to all of them and congratulations on winning their individual medals.
