THE FIRST of a four-week show got underway on Friday night in Whelan's Bar in Campile as the annual Eurofactor kicked off.

Contestants, John Ryan from New Ross, Eoin O'Brien from Ballinamona, Davie Dunne from Campile, Sandra Dunne, Masie Carthy from Terrerath, Mick O'Brien from Dunmain and Joe O'Shea from Campile all tried their hand at performing on the night.

The seven contestants all sang before the judging panel comprising of John Flynn, Sabrina O'Hanrahan and Carrie McCracken, with Donal Whelan as the Master of Ceremonies.

The show is now in its third year and this Friday night will be the first night of eliminations and the competition is to continue every Friday night for the next four weeks, leaving just three talented acts through to the final on Friday, November 27

This competition has raised considerable funds for the club over last three years and the organisers are hoping that this year will be no exception. A substantial prize fund of ¤2,500 will be presented to the overall winner.

Organised by Campile United AFC, all funds raised will go towards the development of the club, which now caters for fourteen teams, from under-8 upwards, both boys and girls.
