SANTA CLAUS
Santa Claus will be appearing in O'Neills bar Cassagh on Sunday December 13 from 3.00 till 6.00 p.m. The cost of entry is only 2 euro and proceeds are going to the Make a wish foundation who hope to make a lot of children happy this Christmas.

The [Dave] Bradley and N. Gaul bit the dust in the final last Friday when they were beaten by D. Rossiter and F. Foley.
GAA CLUB AGM
The A G M of the GAA club took place in the Club House on Friday last.The meeting itself was very constructive and some lively debates took place and everyone satisified that the Club is in a very Healthy state.
Marriane Argue, Secretary stepped down from her position after outlining the amount of work that had been done over the years. Marianne thanked everyone for all their help and wished the Club well in the futhure. Her place was filled by Victor O Connor. John Mc Garr also stepped down as Treasurer and after thanking everyone for their support over the years this position was filled by Brendan Murphy.

The meeting concluded with Marianne and Johnny receiving a standing ovation for their past work with the club.

SANTA IN RATHGAROGUE
On Sunday December 13 Santa Claus, his wife and his merry elves will call into Rathgarogue for a visit to see if all children are being good.there will be a disco for primary school children only from 1-3 p.m.
You can meet Santa and bring your camera and you can get a picture with the man himself. The fee is ¤7 per child concessions will apply for 3 or more from the one family.refreshments will be served for parents.all profits from the day will go towards the purchase of a white board for the school.please support your local school.
CHRISTMAS DRAW
Terrerath Community Council's annual Christmas draw will take place on Wednesday, December 16 in Terrerath Community Centre at the weekly bingo.
The Ring of Hook No Name Club will be holding their annual Xmas disco on December 18 in the Fort Conan Hotel, Duncannon. It will take place from 9pm to 12 midnight and is open to secondary school pupils only. Admission will cost ¤6 and all are most welcome.

For the third week in a row all local soccer matches had to be cancelled due to the heavy rainfall at the end of last week.

The Cockleshell Gallery has a wide and varied range of works on show at present including the Yantra series by Orla Wallace. We are open on Sunday and Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

GAA NOTES
The Annual General Meeting of St James GAA Club was held on Sunday last in the South West Wexford Buildings in Ramsgrange.
Following the chairman's review he thanked the members of the club for the hard work that was put in over the previous 12 months. The current committee was returned for the coming year. Luke O'Hanlon will take the helm for the Intermediate footballers and Kevin Butler will perform the same role for the Junior D footballers.
The successful Junior D hurling management will stay in place following promotion and it was agreed to field a second hurling team for the current year.
The ladies club also held their AGM on Sunday. Officers elected for the coming year: Chairman: Martin Waters, Vice Chairperson, Aine Kennedy, Secretary Ann O'Grady, Asst Sec Ann Fitzgerald, Football Secretary Jane Drought, Camogie Secretary Pauline Keating, Asst Sec Sharon Murphy, Treasurer Mary Rose Ryan, Asst. Sec Marie Kehoe, PRO Lillian Kennedy, Children's Officers Liz Behan and Marie Kehoe. The Co Board Reps will be Sharon Murphy (Camogie) and Jane Drought (football)
Mentors for the forthcoming year will be selected at the first meeting of the committee in February 2010.
GOLF SOCIETY AGM
The AGM of the Templars Golf Society was held in Molloys, Fethard on Novembe 27. Bob Doyle was elected as Captain for the coming year.
The Christmas takes place on Monday, December 28 at New Ross GC. Finally, the society would like to thank all its sponsors and those who helped out to make 2009 a successful year, and would like to wish everyone involved a very Happy Christmas.
A reminder that the Tintern Sports Complex are holding a Christmas Raffle this year in an effort to raise funds for the further developments of the facilities in Ballycullane.
The draw will take place in Power's of Ballycullane on Saturday December 19 and lines cost ¤2 each. Cards are widely available from children in the parish and your support would be most appreciated.

TINTERN PLAYSCHOOL
Tintern Playschool will hold its open night tonight, Wednesday December 9 at 6.30pm. Parents and children of preschool ages are invited to attend. Fully qualified staff will be on hand to answer any questions or queries that you might have.

There was no match three winner of last week's local lotto. But well done to Jeannette Colfer,Alan Browne and Joan Kehoe on each matching three and claiming seventy euro each. The numbers drawn were 6, 7, 14 and 24. This week's jackpot stands at ¤4250.
The underage AGM took place on Tuesday. Secretary Willie Tector congratulated the minor hurlers on winning a county title and the under 14 footballers on reaching a county final.
He also congratulated Declan Murphy, Michael O'Hanlon and Eoin Mythen who were members of the Good Counsel team which reached the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final and the following who represented the club on county teams, Sean Stafford ( under 14 hurling and football) Tomas Kent ( under 16 football ) David Larkin and Declan Murphy (minor fotball).
Chairman Billy O'Shea complimented all who were involved in organising the very successful under 8 football competition and the Anne Parker under 14 football tournament.

The adult AGM was held on Fri. Secretary Stephen O'Connor reviewed a successful year which saw a 3rd Senior Football title in 5 years. Development was still ongoing with the viewing gallery for both the Indoor Centre and Pitch almost finished. Chairman John Kenny thanked the many people who worked at various tasks during the year and all players, selectors, trainers, sponsors and committee members.

The club lost one of it's star hurlers of the 50's when Johnny Waters passed away last week. A fast skilful half forward Johnny played in three Senior hurling finals in the 1951,52 and 54 and kept a keen interest in the club's progress, particularly in hurling. HANDBALL
The club's singles and doubles leagues are nearing semi-final stage. This Friday is the last date for back games and all scores should be put on notice board as the semi-finals will take place next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the finals the following week.
CHURCH SERVICES
There is a Penitential Service for Advent in Horeswood on Monday December 21 at 7 pm and in Ballykelly at 8 p.m. Masses in Horeswood on Christmas Eve are at 8 p.m and on Christmas morning at 10.30 a.m.
