Well done to Triona Mooney who was 2nd in the U12 Girls Cross Country County Final. Triona will now be representing Wexford at the All Ireland Final in Athlone in May.
Athletes from the Adamstown Athletic Club had an exceptional weekend at the Leinster Indoor Championships held in Nenagh. On Saturday we had two competitors: U13 Boys Shot Putt - JP Furlong finished 5th, and also threw a personal best. In U15 Boys shot putt - Eoin Furlong, a newcomer to the event finished 4th.
Sunday saw a great start to the day with Patrice O'Gorman winning a silver medal in the U15 Girls Walk guaranteeing her place in the All Ireland's. In U14 Boys Walk Joe Mooney battled it out and eventually finished 4th. In the U14 Boys 800m Sean Barden lead the field for most of the race, to be out sprinted into 7th position in his heats.
In U15 Girls 800m Claire Stephenson had the fastest heat and finished in 8th position. U16 Boys 800m Stephen Gorman finished 3rd and collecting himself a bronze medal,also qualifying for the All Ireland. In U12 Girls 60m Shannon Wall won her heats impressively and narrowly missed a podium position by finishing 4th in the Final.
In the U12 Boys Shot Putt Jack Power finished 4th and Conor O Gorman finished 6th, with only centimeters depriving them from medals.
The club is holding its Annual Sponsored Run/Jog/Walk on Sunday March 28 at 11.30a.m. All are welcome to come along and join in the 2 mile from Templenacrow to the Grotto in the Ballagh and back.
