NEW ROSS Drama Workshop treated theatre lovers to an astounding story of love, nostalgia and regret with the production of 'Summer' last week.

Their winter production, which ran from Thursday through to Saturday, featured a very strong all-local cast with some familiar faces, together with newcomers to New Ross Drama Workshop James O'Connor and Catherine Gladney.

Tom Reddy took on the role of Stormy Loftus, while Martina Kavanagh played his wife Jan and Our Lady Our Lourdes Secondary School sixth year student Jenny Walsh graced the stage as their daughter Louise.

Eamon O'Connor performed the role of as Jess White and while Catherine Gladney performed opposite him as his wife Myra.

The character of Richard Halvey was taken on by Ken Moroney who produced the show with the assistance of Paul Walsh.

Brid Richardson played his wife Trina and Good Counsel sixth year student James O'Connor, who is just hot off the stage from St. Michael's Theatre Musical Society's production of 'Into the Woods', took to the stage as their son Michael.

This year the group chose 'Summer' by the recently deceased and extremely popular playwright Hugh Leonard. 'Summer' is considered by most critics to be one of the author's most endearing and enduring pieces.

'It went brilliantly – we are delighted with it. All the jokes and even the sadness went down well,' said Ken Moroney.
