THE BISHOP of Ferns, Dr. Denis Brennan issued a letter last weekend to the priests and people of the diocese, following his controversial request for financial help from parishes to pay clerical abuse compensation bills. In the letter, he said the diocese pursues an open policy approach in all aspects of its dealings with the issue of abuse involving some of its priests.

On January 14 Nora Murphy and Breda Farrell were in first place, followed by Martin Forristal and Patricia Rowe in second place, on January 21 Nora Murphy and Bernie Sweeney were in first place, followed by Kitty Lawlor and Bernie Sweeney in second place and on January 28 first place was awarded to Marie Kissane and Breda Farrell and second place went to Breda O'Connor and Kathleen Bolger.
